Everything around you is a matter of choice

September 9th, 2007 by fielmeria

Yes it is.

Ultimately it seems that we decide who we are and who we want to be.

If you know what you are worth, then you CAN go out and get what you are worth.

But you gotta be willing to take the hits.

Coz life’s like that.

Its not about how good you are looking or how fast you are going…

Its whether you are taking it ALL - but still keeping on moving forward to where you wanna be.

Don’t be afraid to do what you have to do.

Don’t just try.

Don’t just do your BEST…

Do whatever it TAKES.

Another diet mythbuster

November 27th, 2006 by fielmeria

This I got from MSN.com:

1. “Lose 30 pounds in 30 days.” Or any other gimmick that pledges massive weight loss at breakneck speed. “It’s not healthy, and it’s not true,” Wilbert says. Permanent weight loss requires lifestyle change, not a quick fix, he adds.

2. Fat is bad for you. “Dietitians forwarded that one to people for years,” says registered dietitian and nutrition teacher Rick Hall. Now they know better. The truth is that some fats are unhealthy, and some are good – indeed, necessary – for your health. (Hence the term, “essential fatty acids”!)

3. Carbohydrates are bad for you. First it was fat, now carbohydrates are the bad guy. Wilbert explains that this trendy idea is just too broad. When trying to lose weight, make a distinction between unhealthy carbohydrates, such as white sugar, and complex carbohydrates, such as vegetables and whole grains, which provide vital vitamins, and fiber to aid digestion.

4. Lose weight by not eating. Uh…no. Starving deprives the body of the nutrients it needs for life and can lead to serious illness. Plus you lose muscle mass, not fat. Even if you do lose pounds, you gain them back almost immediately when you raid the fridge again.

5. Don’t eat after 6 p.m. “It’s not what time you eat, it’s what you eat!” insists Dare to Lose author, Shari Lieberman, Ph.D. “In Europe they eat at 10 o’clock at night and they’re half the size of Americans.”

6. Salad bars are healthy. Bacon, cheeses, fried chicken, oily dressings…The apparent allure of salad bars means they probably require as much of your considered attention as ordering at a fast food restaurant. “You have to choose the foods at a salad bar wisely,” Lieberman reminds people.

7. Diet sodas aid weight loss. This is one of Lieberman’s favorite pieces of diet-industry hype. “There isn’t a single study that shows diet sodas help you lose weight. There’s absolutely no data on that at all,” she claims.

8. You shouldn’t step on a scale. “It’s another misconception that dietitians have passed on,” says Hall. “I completely disagree with it.” He says checking your weight on a regular basis, say once or twice a week, is an obvious way to gauge your progress and alter your diet accordingly. However, Lieberman notes that scales in and of themselves, well, suck. She encourages people to keep track of hip, thigh and tummy inches, too.

9. You can lose weight with a pill. “You can’t replace healthy eating and exercise with a pill,” Hall warns. “Pills aren’t a new thing, they’ve been tried for decades…[with] horrible side effects.”

10. You have to join the gym. Actually, the most recent research indicates 30 to 60 minutes per day of moderate physical activity is all it takes to balance healthy food intake. It doesn’t have to be strenuous exercise, “just move your body!” exclaims Hall.

I take a lot of importance in fitness though I’m not an absolute fanatic - the most I do is to dig out through all the freakin fallacies and fads to pinpoint the real, absolutely proven facts about nutrition and weight control.

These things? All damn too true.

Wake up call

November 15th, 2006 by fielmeria

I thought I had it planned out. I mean, what to do with my life right now.

But because of an incident, I woke up to find what seems to be reality staring back at me.

Considering that I am currently emotionally unstable because of this certain incident, I may just be distorted - meaning that I may have just woken up to another dream…

BUT

If this truly is reality, then my own true master has just dictated to me what I am supposed to do - and it entails a lot of sacrifice.

Sacrifice especially in the ideals and people whom I will have to let down in order for me to fulfill what reality tells me to do.

There are some things that were important but not urgent in the past - which afforded me to do whatever. In reality’s judgement however, time may have just passed enough to make these important things urgent as well..

The pressure is building. Time is not on my side.

To those involved, please accept my apologies… Though not needed, there are words that have been wholly or partially broken. So when I break mine, please don’t take it as my retaliation or my revenge - for I intend no harm upon you.

Though I have set the clock - the time left for my devotion to you.

Oppurtunites I have let go for you. Though I have no regrets, I intend not to let the next oppurtunity pass by.

Just like the oppurtunity at hand, it is mine - and I shall take it (what is left of it anyway.)

Thanks for the ride though.. and I don’t think I come out of this with nothing though it may seem like it.

I have a good story to tell.

A fish back in water

November 12th, 2006 by fielmeria

As an old saying goes, a good way to end something is to end it with a bang.

And hell I did such with my sem break, coz I was back to basics with one of my most loved hobbies: scuba diving.

Just came from Anilao, Batangas a while ago complete with the "rosy" cheeks and the soggy clothes. This was indeed, weekend well spent diving and eating with my father, older brother, Naoko-san, Mr. Valera and Mang Rene.

While there were no rare sea creatures this time, it was still great catching up with people and family I spend the least time with. I feel a bit of envy though, as a different diving group encountered a sea turtle.. aww..

While we see these things in Animal planet or National Geographic, really being down there is a different thing altogether. Like a different sort of sightseeing - the world literally, from a fish’s point of view.

You’ll know how your pet goldfish feels.

Nah. Thats just bad salestalk.. but if anyone at all is interested at all, just take diving school and they will issue you a license that will let you dive at any diving resort in the world.

If you do and you read this blog, message me! Its hard to find dive buddies these days.

lalalalala…

A bit frustrated

November 6th, 2006 by fielmeria

When working on something you believe in, when it doesn’t work, when do you stop working on it?

It is hard to blame people - so I won’t - and neither will I blame myself.

Perhaps it may be the concept that really does not work.. the rifts in philosophies perhaps?

So much work and sacrifices with little to say for it.. That is a fact. Iv’e never been more committed to one thing in my life than this and other than good stories to tell and self-growth - I have nothing out of all this.

The experiences are indeed worth it and I don’t regret any decisions I have made - this is something I am proud of.

But perhaps, a new direction for me personally is needed. Thinking realistically and logically, I should very well do so. But I value unity and loyalty - thus I cannot find it in myself to do so right away.

And and oh yeah, all of this? I refer to a number of things in my life right now - not just one, but several commitments I now have.

Dammit.. like a girlfriend you just can’t seem to let go.. Argh. I hope I wake up to find more peace tomorrow.

Cheers.

For a start

November 5th, 2006 by fielmeria

This is the first time I am ever going to do something like this.. though before it is against my impulse to start a blog coz it will be avaialable to any eyes (if any) that are indeed somehow interested in an ordinary person’s life such as mine.. But somehow sem break boredom got to me so here I am.

It would be fun to start this off by stating ten things I’m feeling right now in order of how much I feel it.. (number 1 is the most I feel)

1. Drunk

2. Sleepy

3. Hot - I’m wearing long sleeves and a jacket

4. Awkward

5. Somewhat stunned

6. Frustrated at the fact that I have to get up early

7. Bored

8. Anticipation

9. Full - came from a buffet and yes, I kept my low-carb diet intact too

10. a secret…

Anyways, lets see how this blog goes.. hmm.. Maybe peopel will actually see and maybe read it.. ah well got to sleep.
